Nicola Lazzari

MASTER VIOLIN MAKER

"It always seems like something is missing without the experience in a workshop"

The 10-year period of internship in the workshop of Maestro Gio Batta Morassi was fundamental to my career: I could observe my Maestro while he was working, learning in his workshop, refining my skills and "intuition".
I chose this path because of my attitude for music and wood carving, and in 1979 I achieved my diploma in the International Violin Making School in Cremona.
After the internship and working for the first time in Cremona, I decided to open my own workshop in Casalbuttano and Uniti, a small town in the province of Cremona, a little bit far away from the centre of violin making in order to find my way. Since then I have continued my career here and today I work side by side with my wife Migiwa Ito Lazzari.

INSTRUMENTS

Some of my instruments

Violins, violas and cellos are inspired by the models of the modern Italian school, such as Garimberti and Ornati, and by classical models such as Amati, Guarneri, Bergonzi and Stradivari, paying special attention to aesthetic and acoustic details.
